This required three trains. The first one I parked my suitcase close
to the door then went to find a vacant seat. This was a 3 hour trip
to Goteborg. I prayed my suitcase would still be there when I got
off. It was!
Leaving Moss for Goteborg |
At Goteborg I had about ¾ hour wait until my next train. This is
quite a large station with lots of places to eat. Choices! I could
have Subway or Burger King. Decided I would try something a little
more authentic so I got a sandwich from a cafe. Before then I had to
go bathroom. They charged! That cost me 10kr. About $2. And there was
a man in there doing the cleaning!
The second train was a high speed one – 200km per hour. I had a
reserved seat. Apparently it was first class as they had
complimentary tea and coffee, fruit and chocolate brownies. Also nice
magazines, which I could not read but enjoyed the pictures. That trip
was about 2 hours.
My magazine and sandwich on the train |
At Lund I only had about 15 minutes to cross to the other tracks for
the last leg. I had a reserved seat for this one too. However I
couldn't see where the carriage numbers were so I got on and realised
I was at carriage 25 when I should be in 11. No way was I going to
risk getting off the train and walking along the platform so I
started moving through the carriages. When I got to 22 I gave up.
There were 3 steps to get up or down between carriages and that just
became a bit too much. I had previously been warned that there had
been thieves on this sector so I needed to keep an eye on my
suitcase. I ended up standing with my bags beside me. Lucky it was
only about 50 minutes.
Finally I arrived at Osby and my lovely second cousin once removed –
Gunnel Andersson and her sweet husband Sten were there to meet me.
All I could say was hej! Smiles work though. They took me to my
lodgings and left me there until dinner time.
