LODGINGS IN OSBY

I was not at all impressed with my lodgings. I had booked them through AirBnB.

I received a message when I got onto the internet at Goteborg from Sharon, the host, to say that her and her husband were in Canada and there would be a Swedish lady staying here as well. The bed did not look at all inviting. The house seems to have a lot of antiques and things are untidy and unclean everywhere.

The internet information was on a piece of paper. I used that – my phone said I was connected but I could not get anything. I messaged Sharon about that. When I met Isabella she said she had also asked Sharon. Eventually she got a response that the modem was in the office. We found that, plugged it in but there was no cable to connect it to the internet. No internet all my time there. At some point someone came and connected a different modem but I still did not manage to connect.

Using the appliances was interesting. I wanted a cup of hot chocolate as I had received a sachet of “Oh Boy”. Filled a mug with milk and put it in the microwave. Couldn't figure how to get that working. Then thought I would heat it on the stove. Couldn't figure how to work that either. I ended up putting the milk in the electric jug and heating it that way.

It was time I took care of some laundry. There was a washing machine – with all the information written in Swedish! I had no idea what dial to set. I just turned it until it seemed to be a quick wash and then let it go. I think I chose a silk wash so things were not wrung out too much. Never mind. They were washed. Then how to dry them! Now the dryer was even more complicated. It was a sunny day and there was a clothesline outside. With six pegs on it! I could not find any more pegs anywhere. Time to use Kiwi ingenuity. I got coat hangers for my tops. I carry a portable clothesline with me that I attached to the clothesline and put socks in between the two rows of elastic. The rest of the clothes needed pegs. As I went to use them some of them broke as they were so brittle from being left on the line for so long. Just had enough. Got back later to clean dry clothes.
